The Shabby House

The History and Myth of The Shabby House

We have heard many stories about our beloved house!  Built in 1916, it is chock full of history.  Although the outside looks like a shabby farmhouse, the inside is full of craftsman charm.  Nearly all of the original woodwork is intact- and unpainted.  At about 1200 sq feet, we have two bedrooms, a beautiful foyer with fireplace, a formal parlor, dining room, kitchen, bath and enclosed back porch.  The grounds have two small outbuildings - and our personal favorite- an outhouse complete with cabbage rose wallpaper.  There is also an underground root cellar, a large stone fireplace and patio,an ivy covered arbor and a stacked stone well.  We are bordered in the back by a canal and a great street light that is original to the property.
Come tour our beautiful shabby house anytime during store hours.

Do we have a ghost?  Rumor has it we do.  Lori and Lesli have both had "moments" with the house ghost.  He seems to be friendly and rather protective of the house, it's contents, and it's inhabitants. We are grateful to have him watching over us!! We have been told the house was originally built for a judge who died under mysterious circumstances.  His wife later married the live-in gardener.  Perhaps that explains why things are always moving around at The Shabby House- although we think it is just the gals constantly redecorating!
